Spohn Excavating Inc. began as the vision of one man who grew up with dirt under his boots and a deep respect for honest work. Owner and founder Tom Spohn started the business in April 1998, drawing on a lifetime spent on the farm, where responsibility began early. Tom grew up working from the age of four or five, learning not only how to operate equipment but how to work hard, solve problems, and help his community.

Heavy machinery and earthwork weren’t just skills for Tom. They were a natural extension of who he was. He loved equipment, loved being outdoors, and loved the satisfaction of transforming raw land into something meaningful. With that passion, he purchased a used truck and backhoe and began offering excavation work locally. That modest start grew into what is now Spohn Excavating Inc., one of the most trusted excavation contractors in Southeast and Central Ohio.
